Mel’s experience spans more than 35 years in the manufacturing
industry with a focus on industrial, process, manufacturing,
facilities and environmental engineering. He has managed
and coordinated a large variety of manufacturing processes
important to the automotive, chemical and waste industries.
Backgrounds in the plant management of metal finishing,
plastics and chemicals manufacture and final assembly
operations form the basis for a complete understanding
for the impact of environmental regulations on these
Other plant level experience include plant layout and
manufacturing process development, production management,
time and motion study analyses and facilities and environmental
compliance strategies design and implementation. In
addition, Mel has coordinated environmental activities
at the Divisional level for eleven hardware manufacturing
operations before moving to Corporate responsibilities.
Supervision has at one time or another involved over
Extensive skills in planning, coordinating and supervising
projects have resulted in the implementation of corporate
environmental strategies that assure compliance with
state and federal law while reducing company liabilities
and costs in the tens of millions of dollars.
Mel maintains a working knowledge of all federal environmental
regulations including RCRA, TOSCA, The Clean Air Act,
The Clean Water Act, as well as The DOT Regulations.
He is the recipient of The General Motors Chairman’s
Award for Extraordinary Accomplishment and is a Certified
Hazardous Materials Manager (CHMM).

Mel received his undergraduate degree in Chemistry
from Wayne State University and received a M.S. degree
in Administration from Central Michigan University.
